VA Grants for an Accessible Bathroom
Call (860) 750-5050 for a free in-home consultation.
If you're a veteran with a service-connected disability, the VA may help pay for a safer bathroom, like a walk-in shower with a low-threshold entry, grab bars and a built-in seat. HUGH'S Bath installs accessible showers across Hartford County, and we can help you put together the paperwork the VA asks for.
HUGH'S Bath is not part of the VA. The VA decides who qualifies and how much, and you need VA approval before any work begins. The amounts below are the VA's published maximums for fiscal year 2026.
HISA Grant
Home Improvements and Structural Alterations. Up to $6,800 for a service-connected condition (or any condition if your rating is 50% or higher), or up to $2,000 otherwise. It starts with a prescription from your VA provider.
SHA Grant
Special Home Adaptation. Up to $25,350 for veterans with certain qualifying service-connected disabilities.
SAH Grant
Specially Adapted Housing. Up to $126,526 for veterans with certain severe service-connected disabilities.
How We Help
We come out for a free consultation, measure the space, and give you the itemized estimate and photos the VA asks for. Once the VA approves your project, we handle the install.
